Quality and certifications
Quality control at Al Shene Marine Holding takes place where the seafood is handled: in Scotland. Raw material buying, processing, packing, quality control and dispatch run from our integrated facilities at Leith (Edinburgh) and Grangemouth. Cold chain, blast freezing and port work are handled at Aberdeen Ports & Docks. Global management and finance sit in Dubai.

Our certifications
- BRCGS Food Safety
- HACCP
- ISO 22000: covers the whole facility and all processed products.
- MSC and ASC: apply to the relevant product groups, not to every product in the range. MSC is the standard for wild-caught seafood and ASC the standard for farmed seafood. Name the product in your enquiry and we will confirm whether it can be supplied under MSC or ASC.
- Halal

Temperature from plant to shipment
Fresh fish and shellfish are kept at +2°C. Frozen product is individually quick frozen (IQF) at −18 to −25°C. Our cold stores in Scotland hold frozen stock at −25°C and chilled stock at +2°C. All air shipments are tracked live with temperature data loggers.
Packing
Fresh product is packed in iced EPS boxes of 6, 10 or 20 kg. Frozen product is packed IQF in vacuum inner packs and master cartons. Private label is available for retail chains.
Inspection and documents
Goods can be inspected before loading by an independent body such as SGS, or by your own representative. Depending on the product and destination, a shipment travels with a Health Certificate, a certificate of origin and CITES papers for listed species. Our team follows customs clearance. Mussels and oysters come from certified waters.
How it ships
Air freight leaves Edinburgh and Glasgow the same or the next day. Frozen loads also move in reefer containers through Leith and Grangemouth, and by our refrigerated truck fleet across Europe.
